My name is Kevin McCain and I am an American. I am an experienced travel expert. I am also a fun of travelling to new places. Today, I thought it wise to share with you my experience about the trip I had to Kiev Ukraine. First, Kiev Ukraine is a wonderful city with so much to do and so much to see. It is one of the best places to visit either for pleasure of for business.
My aim of sharing my experience is to make it easier for you to choose which place you should get mouthwatering dishes, which top hotels you can book, which places you can spend your evening at, and which top attractions you should have in your list of the things to do and see during your trip to Kiev.
As I have already stated, Kiev Ukraine is a wonderful city to be in and my story begins with the one simple, but important piece of advice – plan ahead for you to make the most out of your visit to this beautiful part of the world. Reading through this article can get you started and help you plan your trip based on information from a travel expert.
Let me go ahead and highlight some of the most incredible places I visited. Check them out!
Hotels:
Kiev Ukraine has some of the world’s top ranked hotels that anyone who loves luxury and topnotch services like me will love to dine and spend some few nights at. The hotels are many and wonderful, and that cannot be gainsaid. However, all the hotels in Kiev are not made the same. Some are “more equal than other”. I would like to rate some of the best hotels in Kiev for the sake of you and anyone who would love to go to Ukraine for whatever reason.
Number 5th position:
At the fifth place is Hilton Kyiv. I loved the modern luxury design that is inspired by Kyiv gardens’ flora motives. Being a fitness enthusiast, I couldn’t get enough of the well-equipped fitness center at Hilton Kyiv. My girlfriend and I had a great experience at the hotel’s spa and sauna. This is a 5 star hotel which I can rate at 9.7 in a scale of 1-10.
Number 4th position:
The fourth place is the famous 11 Mirrors Design Hotel, which is all about offering ultra-personalized service and unforgettable experience. I found the entire hotel team to be warm, hospitable and highly professional. Located in the heart of Kiev, this luxurious hotel is the place to be. I spend few nights here and I can tell you everything about this hotel is superb. Besides free Wi-Fi, the 11 Mirrors Design Hotel also offers European cuisine and contemporary-style interiors. Thank God I brought my camera along. The golden Dome of St. Sophia and the sight of the usual Ukrainian blue sky are truly breathtaking. In a scale of 1 to 10, I rate 11 Mirrors Design Hotel at 9.8.
Number 3rd position:
At the third place is the famous Greguar Hotel & Apartments that brings 45 different categories of spacious and comfortable apartments at your disposal. Each apartment is stylish and cozily furnished. During my stay at Greguar Hotel, I went to watch a wonderful performance at the nearby Operetta Theatre, which is only 5-minutes walk away. I was with a friend whom we had travelled with. She tells me she will never forget the experience we had especially when we enjoyed the food together at the hotel’s spacious dining area. Going by its services, location, the staff, food apartments and everything else, Greguar Hotel is a 5 star hotel and I rate it at 9.8 in a scale of 1-10.
Number 2nd position:
At the second place is Fairmont Grand Hotel Kyiv. This is where we experienced exquisite cuisine and extraordinary comfort, spectacular function peace and indulgent spa treatment with the love of my life. I loved the fact that every turn reveals unrivalled views of the city infrastructure, the golden domes of the surrounding cathedrals, and the Dnipro River. I rate this hotel at 9.9 in a scale of 1-10. It is a 5 star hotel.
Number 1st position:
At first place is the one-and-only InterContinental Kyiv. Anyone who loves a world-class hotel will not get enough of InterContinental Kyive. Situated at the center of old Kiev, and next to three major Ukrainian orthodox churches – St. Andrew, St. Michael and St. Sophia – the location of this first class hotel is truly unique. Spread across eleven floors on the City Wings and Dnipro River, 272 executive rooms including wonderful 7 suites offer visitors pure relaxation in a traditional surrounding. I rate this hotel at 5 stars.
Cuisine:
There are so many wonderful places to have delicious meals in Kiev Ukraine. I am going to share with you the top 5 restaurants in Kiev Ukraine. I have been to all these restaurants and I literally fell in love with their food. The dishes are usually of different cultures and nationalities. There are Ukrainian cuisine, European cuisine, Chinese cuisine, Russian cuisine and so on.
5th place:
At the fifth place is Kumpel. I had seen positive reviews about this place and a lot of recommendations. When I got to Kiev, I met some few friends and we headed to Kumpel for lunch. One of the friends I was meeting is a Ukrainian, who also suggested that we have lunch at this place. Since she is a Ukrainian girl and she knows Kiev better, I agreed with her. We really explored the Galician delicacies. I couldn’t get enough of the flyak – tripe soup – and I found it to be the best thing I have ever tasted. I rate this place at 9.8.
4th place:
At the fourth place is Kiflyk. This is a small, but popular oasis of the western cuisine in Kiev, Ukraine. I have to admit that I am a fastidious foodie. But I was still extremely surprised by the delicacies. Every dish here reflects a particular event or has a story. For example, Kiflyk, which is simply a handmade puff pastry cookie, topped with the powdered sugar is typically served complimentarily. Without exaggeration or biasness, I would rate Kiflyk at 9.8 out of 10.
3rd place:
At the third place is Kanapa, the most extraordinary venue in Kiev Ukraine. Located on Andrew’s Descent, which is among the most famous streets in Kiev, Kanapa perfectly reveals the area’s creative and historical importance. In the menu, I found modern interpretations of Galician and Ukrainian food. I really enjoyed having banush (con grits) with the beloved bryndza (sheep milk cheese). I really enjoyed mushroom soup. For lack of a better word, I would say that Kiflyk is an extraordinary place. I rate Kanapa at 9.8 out of 10.
2nd place:
At the second place is the Odessa. I was mesmerized by the conceptual interior of this popular restaurant. Just like I had heard before, the conceptual interior design of Odessa is based is based on three principles – atmosphere, uniqueness, and innovation. We really enjoyed the food made by none other than Chef Yurii Pryyemsky, who is popular in Ukraine and is among the biggest names in the gastronomy in the country. Combining contemporary culinary techniques with seasonal produce, Chef Yurii Pryyemsky creates dishes like veal cheek with a zucchini along with basil cream, mussels tempura with delicious avocado aioli sauce, and teriyaki catfish served with buckwheat noodles. I give Odessa a rating on 9.9 out of 10.
1st place:
At the first place is VINO e CUCINA. I have never been to a restaurant with fine wine and fine food like VINO e CUCINA. My girlfriend suggested that we go to a place where we could have fine Italian fare, and that’s how we chose this restaurant because the focus here is mainly on Italian fare, from a range of Italian seafood dishes and meat to homemade pasta and pizza, and traditional antipasti. If you have just landed in Kiev and you are wondering where to meet up at the first time for fine dining, just head to VINO e CUCINA if you fine Italian fare. Based on the services I received, the general atmosphere, the location and food served, I give this restaurant a rating of 9.9.
Attractions:
There is so much to see and do in Kiev, Ukraine. In fact, I didn’t even know where to start when I finally landed in this beautiful city. This city is cosmopolitan, busy and huge, but it also hides some of the world’s most beautiful monuments and beautiful places that are worth a visit. I was actually here a year ago with my girlfriend and I we really had fun and memorable moments. As a travel expert, I want to share with you the 5 best attractions in Kiev.
Number 5:
The fifth place is Andreevsky Descent. This is the brightest, most creative, and the brightest city street, popularly known as the “Kiev’s Montmartre”. It is one of the most popular attractions in Kiev for all the good reasons. Besides being the home for world-class artists and souvenir dealers, this is truly a mystical place, and I came here every night for the 5 days I spent in Kiev. I loved this place big time. Just like many other travel experts, I also gave this Kiev attraction a rating of 8.7.
Number 4:
The fourth place is taken by the Museum of the Great Patriotic War. Located just beside Pechersk Lavra, which is also another must visit attraction in Kiev, Museum of the Great Patriotic War is a memorial that commemorates the German-Soviet war. It one of the most surreal places I visited in Kiev. It is a park that is full of different kinds of war machines including planes, cars, and tanks among others. Besides a massive monument of Mother Ukraine at the complex, there are also Soviet war songs that are being played in the background. Being here was quite an experience. I would rate the attraction at 9.7 out of 10.
Number 3:
The third place is Pechersk Lavra. This one here is a must visit place for anyone who visits Kiev for business or for pleasure. I would like to have another opportunity to visit this huge complex of Cave Monasteries, which is more than a century old. The monasteries are extraordinarily beautiful, with golden domes which shine in the sun. Since its foundation, Pechersk Lavra has always been the main center of Eastern Orthodox in this side of the world. I thought the outside was incredibly beautiful. But when I entered inside, I was surprised. It was something I have never seen. Rich adornments make them literally look and feel like a fairytale. There is a special gem hidden in the oldest monastery and there are several graves of monks at the underground corridors. I can’t rate this Kiev attraction less than 9.8.
Number 2:
The second place is Mamaeva Sloboda. 18th century Cossack settlement the first time I set my eyes on it. There are more than 100 buildings that recreate the authentic way of life and architecture. I also enjoyed the delicious Ukrainian cuisine and learnt some basics of Cossack traditions. I give this attraction a rating of 9.8.
Number 1:
The first place is Dnieper Quay. It is a modern, beautifully kept walking zone along the calming Dnieper River. I found the entire place to be incredibly beautiful. I had travelled all the way to Ukraine from America for holiday. If you come here during your trip to Kiev, be sure to take a walk along the clean, charming Dnieper River. If you are feeling hungry, you can have a delicious meal at the nearby café, which is overlooking Trukhanov Island. I would be unfair if I give this incredibly beautiful new walking zone anything less than a rating of 9.9 out of 10.
Night life:
Going to disco and nightclubs is a great way to discover the true spirit of any city. It is also an opportunity to unwind and have fun after a day packed with activities. The night life in Kiev is typically full of fun.
Having been to many different night clubs in Kiev, I want to share with you the top 5 nightclubs and places where you can spend your evening.
5th choice:
The fifth place is Indigo. This is an inconceivable entertainment platform that literally combines four zones – a banquet hall, a karaoke bar, a nightclub, and a restaurant. When you get here, you can start by having a fine dinner at the spacious Indigo Terrace and then immerse yourself into the disco club as the night progresses. I rate this place at 9.7 out of 10.
4th choice:
The fourth place is Dali Park, which is an open-air complex that unites a nightclub, an exquisite restaurant, and one of the finest karaoke places in Kiev. I really enjoyed myself here and I would not hesitate to recommend it for you. Here, you will always meet famous politicians and celebrities among other VIP guests. After dancing and having fun the whole night, I got an early breakfast before I left. I rate this place at 9.8.
3rd choice:
At the third place is Caribbean Club. This nightclub opened its doors for party animals in 1998. It is one of those few places in the city where events and parties are held 7 days a week. So, whatever day you are visiting Kiev, you can be sure there will be an activity going on here. The dance floor is spacious, and there are also three large bars. I give Caribbean Club a rating of 9.8.
2nd choice:
Second place is Closer, which is an art center that houses a 21st century nightclub and a modern gallery space. Closer is a legendary nightclub. Actually, it is among the top 10 nightclubs in the world. I couldn’t get enough of what it had to offer when I came here for partying. There are festivals, exhibitions and live performances held here. If you are a fun of electronic music, Closer is the place to be at night. Just like most of my fellow travel experts, I give this club a rating of 9.9 in a scale of 1-10.
1st choice:
At the top is the popular Skybar. One reason why I loved Skybar is the fact that it offers a breathtaking view of the Ukrainian capital from its stunning platform, which is very popular with both visitors and locals. Of course, having a night out and Skybar is pricy. However, the experience you get is beyond measure and it’s actually valueless. The venue is well known for its bright dance music and exclusive atmosphere. I can’t help but rate this place at 9.9.
