In those days Horse and carriage was the way to travel, so the hotel had its own stables, and was the first staging post traveling south from Aberdeen where you could stay the night and rest you horse.
Cove itself started as a small fishing village and still has its own small harbour where local Crab & Lobsters are still landed today.
Since that time Aberdeen has expanded , especially in the 1970’s when Aberdeen became the oil capital for the Uk. Cove is now part of Aberdeen but it still retains that fishing village character and feels more like a community within the city.
For over 200 years people have been passing through, eating & sleeping at this fine old Inn, and we look forward to welcoming many more in the years to come.
